Tips for Your About Page

Last week we gave you our recommendations for what to include on your website's About page. Click here if you missed it. A lot of your responded saying you realized you need to make some changes to your About page, so this week we would like to give you some tips on each of our recommended features.

The Story

When sharing your business backstory, it's important to remember that you're writing for your customer, not yourself. So make sure to keep it concise and don't get bogged down in the less interesting details. Make it relatable and give the reader something to connect with, whether it's a challenge you faced or a passion you pursued.

The Purpose

We've seen a lot of businesses write their mission statement early in the development of their business, and then over the years things change. Does your business purpose still stand true? Maybe it's time to go back and revisit that statement and make some edits if necessary.

Your Values

When listing your company values, don't get too abstract with your words - be specific. For example, don't just say that you care about the environment, talk about the eco-friendly materials you use in your products.

The Team

The best way to introduce each member of your team is with a headshot and bio. Keep the biographies consistent in length and include the same kind of info in each. Headshots should also be consistent in style. Using the same photographer for each photo helps with consistency.

Photos

In addition to headshots, photos of your work environment and your work process are always helpful. But having high-quality photography can make a difference. The more professional the photos look, the more professional your business looks. Contact us to schedule a photoshoot at your office!

Was this helpful? We would love to hear what you think and what other topics you'd like us to discuss on the blog. And if you're ready to make some changes to your website, contact us and let's take your business to the next level!
