New Orleans Shakespeare Festival
26th Season
split down
the middle
The Shakespeare Festival's 26th season featured two very different plays, Much Ado About Nothing and Hamlet, so the festival needed a way to promote both without compromising the tone of either. Our solution was to split everything right down the middle, literally, and show the contrast of the comedy and the tragedy. The light and dark themes were featured in all promotional materials including banners, program covers, web graphics and social media. The mail pieces for this year featured lines from the script highlighting the tone of each play.
high contrast
The festivals performance of Hamlet was set in modern time. We shot promotional photographs to show the darkness and violence of the play with the actors against solid black backdrops and intense lighting. We also coordinated a group photo of the cast on the stage with a hidden skull prop.
