Essentials for Product Packaging

At 2nd Story we've designed packaging labels for multiple types of products. And we understand that selecting the appropriate package for your products can be overwhelming with so many options out there. So here's a checklist of things you need to think about when narrowing it down.

Make it Practical

Keep in mind how your customer is going to use your product and think about what container makes the most sense. Convenience is important and doesn't need to be sacrificed for style.

Look at the Competition

Take some time to scope out what the competition is doing. If your target audience is used to a certain type of packaging for products similar to yours, it could be beneficial to give them something recognizable so they understand what your product is.

Stay on Brand

Remember your brand when selecting a package. Not just the colors, but think about your overall vibe. This can help you determine what materials your packaging should use, as well as things like the shape and texture.

Be Consistent

If you have multiple products, keep some consistency between the packaging. You should be able to see all of your products together and immediately understand they are one big family.

Make Room for Info

Think about what information needs to go on your packaging, such as ingredients, directions, nutrition facts, bar code, etc. Make sure there is room for everything in a legible font size.

Consider the Cost

Packaging can be pricy. And the price of your package should be included in the price of your product. So don't make your customers pay more for the package than what's inside. Also consider how the package will affect the cost of shipping your product.

There's a lot to think about when you're selling a product. Just keep in mind, presentation matters. That's why 2nd Story would love to work with you to create a package label to get your product noticed. So contact us and let's take your product to the next level!
